Varicose veins, colon cancer and autism are among the topics for March in Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center's Health Education series.
The latest treatment options for colon cancer will be discussed by David Walters, M.D., a colorectal surgeon, on Monday, March 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Hospital, 114 Woodland St., Hartford.
Thomas Johnson, D.P.M., a podiatrist, will present a talk on new treatments for foot pain on Tuesday, March 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 7 Elm St., Enfield.
Surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation will be detailed by Paul Stanislaw, Jr., M.D., a facial plastic surgeon, on Tuesday, March 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury.
Phaniraj Iyengar, M.D., a neurologist, and Robert Krug, M.D., a physiatrist, will discuss the risk for stroke on Tuesday, March 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Mandell Jewish Community Center, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford.
Stress management will be the subject of a presentation by Erin Ballou, B.S., on Thursday, March 11, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury.
Richard ZuWallack, M.D., a pulmonologist, will explain chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on Tuesday, March 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 35 Nod Road, Avon.
An update on prostate cancer detection and treatment will be presented by Joseph Colasanto, M.D., a radiation oncologist, on Thursday, March 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Hospital, 114 Woodland St., Hartford.
Jorge Diez, M.D., an endocrinologist, will provide an update on diabetes on Tuesday, March 23, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 7 Elm St., Enfield.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center will present two stroke education and prevention programs during March. Sessions will be held on Tuesday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury, and on Tuesday, March 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 35 Nod Road, Avon. Participants will learn about risk factors for stroke, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity and diet. Session Set on Memory Improvement

Classes To Focus on Mind/Body Wellness
Saint Francis Care at Glastonbury will present a two-part class that combines the calming, mental clarity practice of inviting silence and the gentle, rhythmic movement of Tai Chi Easy™ and Qigong mind/body practices. Participants will learn to rest their mind, relax their body, cultivate more energy and increase their vitality throughout the day. Preparing for Surgery Class Set

CPR Classes Slated for Glastonbury
Saint Francis Care at Glastonbury will offer two CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) classes in March. Classes will be held on Wednesday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, March 16, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury. This American Heart Association class is intended for the lay rescuer. It teaches CPR and choking management for infants, children and adults. There is a $45 fee for each class. Partner Massage Workshop Slated
