Elizabeth McAvoy is a physician assistant at Greater Hartford Orthopedics and works with Dr. Jay Kimmel. Elizabeth attended the University of Delaware and graduated cum laude with a degree in neuroscience. While at Delaware, Elizabeth was a member of the Division 1 Women’s Soccer team. She then attended Mercy College where she earned a BA and a MS in physician assistant studies. At Mercy College Elizabeth developed an interest in orthopedics through her experience in the emergency room setting and in private practice. She started working with Dr. Jay Kimmel in 2007.
Elizabeth assists Dr. Kimmel in the office and is his first assistant in the operating room. She sees patients in Enfield, Hartford, and Rocky Hill, both with Dr. Kimmel and independently. Elizabeth also travels to American International College where she is responsible for the care of the injured athletes. Elizabeth shares the role of team physician with Dr. Kimmel for three local high schools. Since being employed at GHOG, Elizabeth has gained a certification in musculoskeletal ultrasound, through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). She is one of the first PAs in the area to gain such certification.
In Elizabeth’s spare time you can find her on the soccer field, running various road races, or chasing her children in Tolland where she resides with her husband.
