March 2012 -- The Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital has been recognized as a “2012 Top Performer” based on a ranking from the national data repository, Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), Program Evaluation Model (PEM) report for Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (IRFs). The status positions Mount Sinai as one of the top 10 percent of all inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the United States.
“This noteworthy achievement reflects the outstanding cost effective quality driven care we deliver at Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital with a focus on outcomes,” states Robert J. Krug, M.D., Medical Director, Physician Medicine and Rehabilitation Service Line. “As the only free standing acute rehabilitation hospital in Connecticut, we provide a unique and specialized level of care.”
The UDSMR PEM report was developed in response to the Institute of Medicine’s 2006 recommendations to Congress that every Medicare provider be paid on a pay-for-performance basis. Facilities that achieve “Top Performer” status within the UDSMR’s database, is cited for care that is effective, efficient, timely, and patient centered.
