Becoming a Junior Volunteer

High School students between the ages of 15 and 17 and college students can volunteer during the academic year or the summer. A minimum commitment of one four - hour shift each week is required. We require students to volunteer for at least 40 hours during the school year and 50 hours during the summer. During the summer a volunteer must commit to being here at least 6 out of the 8 weeks to reach the 50 hours. These guidelines ensure that this will be a win-win experience for the students and the hospital staff.

Volunteering provides a wonderful opportunity for career exploration, as well as to fulfill school community service requirements. The deadline for receiving applications for the 2016 Summer Junior Volunteer Program is Monday, April 4th. Late applications will be placed on a waiting list and applicants will be notified ONLY if there are open positions. Interviews are conducted during April and May. For those selected for the program, there will be an orientation during the last week of June and the program will begin after that. For those students in private schools whose summer vacation begins earlier, we will have earlier orientations to choose from.
