(HARTFORD, Conn., May 18, 2010) --Aris Yannopoulos, M.D., of Simsbury, has been elected Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Yannopoulos graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College. He
received his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He served as an intern and resident in general surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a resident in the Harvard Orthopedic Program/Massachusetts General Hospital and as a spine fellow at the University of California, Davis.
A diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Yannopoulos is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, North America Spine Society and Connecticut Orthopedic Society among others.
Dr. Yannopoulos has been a practicing member of the Saint Francis orthopedic staff since 1990. He had served as Vice Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics since 2001.
Founded in 1897, Saint Francis is a major teaching hospital licensed for 617 acute inpatient beds and 65 bassinets. It is the largest Catholic hospital in New England.
