SAINT FRANCIS NAMES DIRECTOR OF RISK MANAGEMENT - Karen A. Daley, R.N., J.D., M.B.A., To Fill Position

(HARTFORD, Conn., April 13, 2010) – Karen A. Daley, R.N., J.D., M.B.A., of Wethersfield, has been named Director of Risk Management at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

In her new position, she will be responsible for managing regulatory issues, claims, loss prevention and risk management educational activities.

Daley received her bachelor’s degree in nursing cum laude from Boston College, a master of business administration from the Boston College Carroll School of Management and her law degree from the Boston College Law School.

She most recently served as Director of Risk Management at Bridgeport Hospital. Previously, she was an associate in the Hartford law firm of Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, and held nursing positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.

A member of the international nursing honor society Sigma Theta Tau, Daley is also a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, its Connecticut Chapter and its Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Healthcare Risk Management. She is an affiliate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Membership Committee of its Connecticut Chapter. She is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Founded in 1897, Saint Francis is a major teaching hospital licensed for 617 acute inpatient beds and 65 bassinets. It is the largest Catholic hospital in New England.
