NISSIN C. NAHMIAS, M.D., JOINS SAINT FRANCIS

Specialist in Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery

(HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 16, 2010) - Nissin C. Nahmias, M.D., of Hartford, has joined the Medical Staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Nahmias received his medical degree magna cum laude from the Anahuac University School of Medicine, Mexico City. He served as an intern and resident in general surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, and a fellow in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, Richmond.

A diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Nahmias is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is the author or co-author of five papers published in professional journals and two chapters in a medical textbook.

Dr. Nahmias' clinical interests include bariatric surgery, single incision laparoscopic surgery including gastric banding, hernia repair, solid organ surgery, Nissen fundoplication, biliary disease and gastric pacing for gastroparesis.

At Saint Francis, he will practice as a member of Connecticut Surgeons, L.L.C.
