Specialist in Pediatrics
(Hartford, Conn. June 6, 2011) – Swathanthra Kumar Melekote, M.D., a pediatrician, of Ellington, has joined the Medical Staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Melekote received his medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College at Karnatak University, Belgaum, India. In India, he served as an intern at Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital-Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore, and a resident in pediatrics at Bangalore Medical College.
He also served as a senior house officer in pediatrics at Crawley General Hospital, Crawley, U.K.; a senior house officer in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Norfolk, U.K.; and a staff officer in neonatal-perinatal medicine at North Manchester General Hospital, Central Manchester; and Manchester Children’s University Hospitals, Manchester, U.K.
Dr. Melekote also served as a chief resident in pediatrics at New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine/John Dempsey Hospital.
Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Melekote is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health of the United Kingdom, the American Pediatric Society, New England Pediatric Society, Society of Pediatric Research, Eastern Society of Pediatric Research, American Medical Association, and Hartford County Medical Association. At Saint Francis, he is practicing as a member of Manchester Pediatric Associates.
