Danyal Ibrahim, M.D., M.P.H., Appointed Chief Data and Analytics Officer for Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center

Danyal Ibrahim, M.D., M.P.H.(Hartford, Conn. February 4, 2015) – Danyal Ibrahim, M.D., M.P.H., has been named Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

Ibrahim, an emergency department physician with a specialty in toxicology, will lead the transformation of healthcare data into actionable insights that drive improvement opportunities in multiple domains at Saint Francis, including health outcomes, efficiency of care processes, patient experience, operations, care delivery and value of care.

Ibrahim recently completed a study about chronically-ill patients who use the emergency department for their healthcare needs.  By pairing these “high-utilizers” with a community healthcare worker who helped fulfill their unmet social and health needs, their use of the ED dropped by 50 percent within nine months.

Ibrahim combines a unique set of knowledge, experience and skills in fields of data analytics, business intelligence, statistics, improvement science and clinical medicine.   He earned his medical degree from University of Toronto School of Medicine and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis. Ibrahim went on to do fellowship training in medical toxicology at Indiana University School of Medicine, and then earned a master’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is currently completing a Masters of Healthcare Delivery Science at the Dartmouth Institute and Tuck School of Business.

Ibrahim joined Saint Francis in 2008 as Chief of Toxicology in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He will continue in that role.
