Will Oversee Second Phase of Epic Electronic Medical Record  

Gregory Bennett Appointed Assistant IT Director(Hartford, Conn.  August 26, 2014)   Gregory Bennett has been promoted to Assistant Director in the Enterprise Information System Department at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.  In his new role, he will oversee the implementation of the second phase of the Saint FrancisCare EpiCare Ambulatory system, and will also oversee the Allscripts Touchworks EMR and Vision Practice Management systems.   

EpiCare Ambulatory builds upon the hospital’s current EpiCare Inpatient system.  These tools allow physicians in the community to communicate pertinent information seamlessly with the Hospital and staff to coordinate patient care. 

Bennett has been training physicians, nurses and administrative staff in the use of electronic medical records (EMRs) for 12 years.  He has 14 years of experience working in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.   

Bennett came to Saint Francis in 2006 to help configure and implement the Allscripts Touchworks EMR for outpatient physicians’ practices.   He was promoted to manager in 2012 to help oversee an EMR rapid rollout strategy with Saint Francis HealthCare Partners. 

Bennett holds a bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and lives with his wife, Melissa Bennett, a nurse at the Saint Francis Cancer Center, and four children, in Granby.
