1.5 Million Dollars Pledged to Saint Francis by Maximilian E and Marion O Hoffman Foundation Inc

Four-year pledge will fund the Hoffman Breast Center at Saint Francis  

(Hartford, Conn.  May 12, 2014) -  Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center has announced that it is the recipient of a generous $1.5 million grant from the Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation to benefit the Hospital’s Breast Health Center. The Breast Health Center will be named after the Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation, Inc. The grant will be paid over four years. 

“This gift will enhance the breast health services that we offer at the recently opened, state-of-the-art Comprehensive Women’s Health Center,” said E. Merritt McDonough, Jr., President and Chief Development Officer for the Saint Francis Foundation. “We are very grateful to the Hoffman Foundation for its vision and generosity.  The Hoffman Foundation is the largest private foundation donor to the Hospital, and through its support we are able to offer numerous life-saving programs for our community.” 

Based in West Hartford, the Maximilian E. and Marion O. Hoffman Foundation Inc., was established in 1982 by Marion O. Hoffman in memory of her husband, Maximilian E. Hoffman, who died in 1981. Mr. Hoffman is known as one of the first distributors of foreign cars in the United States. The non-profit organization donates to groups, mostly in Connecticut, that further education, medicine and the arts. 

The Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Foundation operates exclusively to advance the charitable, scientific and educational purposes of the Hospital through relationship building, community visibility and fund raising. 

The Foundation also focuses on major gifts and planned gifts to build Saint Francis' endowment to enable the Hospital to sustain its services in the community for generations to come.
