The Spine Institute of Connecticut is the only one
(Hartford, Conn. January 10, 2014) - Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading
source of information for healthcare professionals, has listed Saint Francis Hospital
and Medical Center among its top “100 Hospitals
with Great Orthopedic Programs.” The announcement
recognizes orthopedic surgery departments, programs or dedicated centers that
have earned special recognition.
Saint Francis is the only Connecticut hospital on the list.
According to Becker’s, exceptional orthopedic
departments include physicians who provide outstanding patient care, advance
cutting-edge orthopedic research and treat professional athletes. Many of the
hospitals featured on the Becker’s
list have earned recognition for orthopedic excellence from U.S. News
& World Report, Healthgrades, CareChex and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
To devise the list,
the Becker's editorial team weighted these
rankings and recognition, and conducted additional research to find those
hospitals with great orthopedic programs.
In the report, Becker’s
recognizes The Spine Institute of Connecticut at
Saint Francis. Orthopedists and neurosurgeons at the Institute specialize in spinal disorders and perform the most
same-day spine surgeries in Connecticut. The Hospital's orthopedic department
includes 19 specialists, and more than 1,100 inpatient orthopedic procedures are
performed there each year. Saint Francis received Healthgrades' 2014 awards for
excellence in spine surgery, orthopedic surgery and joint replacements.
“Our goal at The
Spine Institute of Connecticut is to provide comprehensive care to our
patients from the moment they arrive, through their discharge and
rehabilitation planning,” said Aris Yannopoulos, M.D., Director, Spine
Institute of Connecticut. “To be recognized as a national leader in orthopedic
programs is indeed an honor.
“From minor strains, sprains, and back pains, to more
complex spinal issues including herniated discs, scoliosis, degenerative disc,
and stenosis, our nationally recognized team of physicians offers the most comprehensive
range of treatment,” Dr. Yannopoulos adds.
