Kathleen N. Mueller, M.D.
Dr. Mueller has been the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center’s Integrative Medicine Program Medical Director for the past 4 years. In August 2012, Dr. Mueller completed her studies and was awarded the title of Fellow of Integrative Medicine through the University of Arizona’s program founded by Andrew Weil, M. D. She is board certified in family medicine and has practiced hypnosis as part of her family medicine practice since 1997 as well as acupuncture since 2002. In addition to her work at the Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Mueller is also co-owner of Holistic Health Partnering, her private integrative family practice.

Sharon O'Brien is the founder and Program Director of the Center of Integrative Medicine and Assistant Director of the Comprehensive Women’s Health Center. She has been coordinating and delivering wellness programs since 1988, all but 5 of those years at Saint Francis. Sharon teaches integrative medicine classes and provides relaxing techniques to patients and staff throughout their healing journeys. She has training in energy therapy, guided visualization, mind-body medicine, M – Technique, aromatherapy and soft touch hand massage. Sharon is committed to helping Saint Francis deliver excellence in patient care through the best practices of integrative medicine.

Maria Eberle, R.N., H.N.-B.C.
Maria Eberle graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1973. She has been practicing integrative medicine since 2004 and is working as an integrative practitioner in the Center for Integrative Medicine. She is certified in Holistic Nursing. She is a graduate of the Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences four-year Energy Medicine Practitioner Program and has continued her studies in different aspects of integrative medicine including guided visualizations. She facilitates the Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster program and drumming circles using African djembe drums. She is passionate about using her knowledge in supporting individuals in their healing journey.

Barbara Fasulo, C.H., R.Y.T. 500
Barbara Fasulo is the Coordinator for the Center of Integrative Medicine. She has worked in Integrative Medicine since 2004. She has extensive training and experience with various modalities including: Energy Therapy, Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster, and is a graduate of the Clinical Pastoral Counseling Program offered through Saint Francis Hospital. She is also a Registered Hypnotist (CT Registration# 317) and Registered Yoga Instructor (RYT500). She uses her training and experience to support others in their journey to wellness and balance body, mind, and spirit.

Christopher Gaunya M.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl.Ac.
Christopher joined the Center for Integrative Medicine in 2009 and started the Community Acupuncture Program in 2011. He has been in practice since 1999 and earned his Master of Acupuncture degree from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle Washington. He is nationally board certified by the National Commission of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is licensed in the State of Connecticut. His clinical experience includes working in the International Medicine Clinic at Harbor View Hospital in Seattle and 16 years of private practice. In December 2012 in response to the Sandy Hook shooting, Christopher initiated the establishment of the Sandy Hook Response Acupuncture Clinic that provided several months of free community acupuncture services to the people of Newtown. He is committed to making acupuncture affordable and accessible to everyone.
Joan Harovas, R.N., B.S.N., H.N.B.-B.C.
Joan Harovas has been a nurse for many years, graduating from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1968 and more recently, from Sacred Heart University. She has been practicing Integrative Medicine since 1977 and currently works as the Nurse Liaison in the Center for Integrative Medicine. She has been a Holistic Nurse for many years and is currently Board Certified. She facilitates the Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster program and is the creator of a unique program entitled Mindful Respect - An Integrative Approach to Counteract Hostility in the Workplace. Joan is also certified in Therapeutic Touch, ‘M’ Technique and as a Heartmath Mentor. She has several other trainings in various modalities to round out her extensive knowledge in the field. Additionally, Joan is a 2015 Nightingale Award recipient.
Julie Olson has been a massage therapist since 2002. She is a professional member of the AMTA. Her massage styles range from stress reduction relaxation, pregnancy massage, sports massage and extensive training in oncology massage therapy. A firm believer in the inseparable connection between body/mind, Julie is a proponent of massage for relieving physical as well as emotional stress, and strongly believes in massage as a viable modality for enhancing overall health and well-being.
Barry Wixsom, L.M.T.
Barry Wixom has been a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist for over 10 years. He graduated from the American Institute of Massage Therapy in 2006. His passion is restoring balance back into his clients/patients lives and he specializes in Oncology Massage Therapy and Therapeutic Massage. His interests include running, traveling, and being a healthy role model for people.
