(HARTFORD, Conn.) – Scott J. Ellner, D.O., M.P.H., of Hartford, has joined the Medical and Dental Staff of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Ellner received his degree in osteopathic medicine from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, Calif., and a master’s degree in public health from San Diego State University.
He served as an intern, resident, executive chief resident in surgery and a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California at San Diego. Dr. Ellner recently completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine/Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. He also has done research with the sentinel lymph node technique and has published several papers on this minimally invasive cancer procedure.
A candidate member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, he is board certified in surgery and certified in advanced trauma life support. Dr. Ellner is also an associate member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, the Southern California Osteopathic Medical Society, the Connecticut Medical Society and the Hartford County Medical Association.
At Saint Francis, he will practice as a member of Minimally Invasive Surgeons of Greater Hartford, L.L.C., with offices in Hartford and Enfield.
Founded in 1897, Saint Francis is a major teaching hospital licensed for 617 acute inpatient beds and 65 bassinets and is the largest Catholic hospital in New England.
