  • Free Medical Insurance Counseling

Medical insurance is an important financial asset for older citizens, but it is also frequently misunderstood. At the Saint Francis Center for Health Enhancement, trained volunteers from CHOICES, a state-funded help group, answer questions about the many insurance options available to seniors, including Medicare, Medicaid and long-term care. CHOICES is not associated with any institution that sells insurance.

  • Discounted Dental Services

When you live on a fixed income, there is nothing more welcome than a break in the cost of vital services. At Saint Francis, adults 65 and older who join our Third Age Group receive a 20 percent discount on dental care at our Community Dental Center.

  • Low-cost Foot Care

Mobility is something everyone cherishes — especially older community members. Once a week, hospital-affiliated podiatrists at Saint Francis provide area seniors with routine foot care at a discounted cost.

  • Nutrition Counseling

As our bodies age, our dietary needs change. By enrolling in the Saint Francis Third Age Group, older adults can have their food intake assessed for adequate nutrition. They can also receive information on a number of basic dietary concerns and register for a discounted weight management program.

  • Massage Therapy

Through the manipulation of soft tissue, massage therapists can enhance the function of joints and muscles, improve circulation and relieve stress and fatigue. Offered at a discount for older adults, this service is provided by licensed practitioners at a variety of Saint Francis Care locations.

  • Senior Fitness

The key to leading an active life is keeping in shape. The Saint Francis Fitness Center offers a wide variety of fitness classes, including low-impact aerobics, flexibility and range-of-motion exercises and weight training that are specifically geared toward older adults. For seniors who prefer to exercise on their own, our Senior Fitness Pass provides access to our facilities plus personal training sessions at a discounted price.

  • Community Education & Health Screenings

Saint Francis health professionals frequently reach out to seniors at church and temple gatherings, AARP meetings, seniors clubs and more, offering free health seminars and screenings. Seminar topics include general wellness for people over age 55, the aging process, living with arthritis, spirituality in health and "Maximizing Your Mind," a program of mental exercises designed to heighten memory. Screenings include blood pressure, vision, hearing, skin cancer and other key health concerns.
