Due to the complexity of illness in the ICU patient, timeliness of response by the physician is important. Through the involvement of a multiple physician team, we can maintain an in-hospital physician or PA to respond to the bedside for medical emergencies within minutes. In addition, the Surgical Critical Care program is an important teaching component of UConns Department of Surgery, training physicians who are specializing in Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Emergency Medicine, as well as visiting physicians from across the country and from other countries.
