Sleep disorders are characterized by difficulty falling asleep or maintaining sleep, abnormal sleep or difficulty maintaining alertness while awake. Sleep problems are common. Fifty million adults and children suffer a sleep disorder. The Sleep Disorders Center at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is an accredited center of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The purpose of the Center is threefold:
To provide multidisciplinary resource for patients and their caregivers who have questions or problems concerning sleep.
To evaluate individuals with signs or symptoms of a sleep disorder and to establish an accurate diagnosis of their sleep problem.
To develop the best treatment plan for individuals who have sleep problems.
