Dessert with the Doctors

Varicose veins, sinus treatments and low back pain are among the topics to be discussed during October in Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center's popular “Dessert with the Doctors” series.

Lori Greenwald, M.D., a vascular surgeon, will detail the latest treatments for varicose veins on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury.

Traditional and virtual colonoscopies will be discussed by Henry Danis, M.D., a gastroenterologist, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 35 Nod Road, Avon.

Seth Brown, M.D., an otolaryngologist, will review advances in sinus treatment on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford.

The hepatitis C infection will be the subject of a presentation by Marty Hoffman, D.O., a gastroenterologist, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford.

Paul Stanislaw, Jr., M.D., a facial plastic surgeon, will discuss treatments to reverse the effects of aging on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 546 Cromwell Ave., Rocky Hill.

Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease will be reviewed by Jawad Haider, M.D., a cardiologist, on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Mandell Jewish Community Center, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford.

Walter Trymbulak, M.D., an obstetrician/gynecologist, will explain the human papilloma virus (HPV) and cervical cancer on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the University of Hartford Magnet School, 196 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford.

Low back pain will be the subject of a presentation by Aris Yannopoulos, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 35 Nod Road, Avon.

Robert McAllister, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, will discuss arthritis on Monday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 7 Elm St., Enfield.

Back Care Basics To Be Explored

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center will present a workshop on back care basics on Monday, Oct. 1, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Hospital, 114 Woodland St., Hartford. Driver Safety Courses Scheduled for Enfield and Glastonbury

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center will offer two AARP driver safety courses during October. The course is intended for drivers over 50 and helps sharpen driving skills and adjust for age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. The two-day course will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 7 Elm St., Enfield, and Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury. Workshop Planned on Healing and Family Constellations

Smoking cessation, facial plastic surgery and metabolic syndrome are among the topics to be discussed during November in Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center’s popular “Dessert with the Doctors” series.

Richard ZuWallack, M.D. , a pulmonary specialist, will review the latest prescription therapy for smoking cessation on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford.

Surgical treatment to reverse the effects of aging will be discussed by Paul Stanislaw, Jr., M.D. , a facial plastic surgeon, on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 35 Nod Road, Avon.

Jacob Zamstein, M.D. , a urologist, will lead a discussion on men’s sexual health on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford.

Metabolic syndrome will be explained by Thomas McLarney, M.D. , a family practitioner, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 31 Sycamore St., Glastonbury.

Jorge Diez, M.D. , an endocrinologist, will review diabetes management issues on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 35 Nod Road, Avon.

Urinary incontinence and overactive bladder will be the subject of a presentation by Adine Regan, M.D. , a urologist, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Community Health Resource Center, 546 Cromwell Ave., Rocky Hill.

James Frank, M.D., a surgical oncologist, will explore the value of second medical opinions on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Saint Francis Care Center for Health Enhancement, 7 Elm St., Enfield.
