CT, Computed Tomography, utilizes x-rays and advanced computer technology to create detailed images of the body. Our new, state-of-the-art Siemens CT Scanners utilize the newest "multi-slice" technology which actually creates multiple images per scan instead of the older conventional single image scanner. This technology allows for ultrafast CT scanning and high resolution images for maximum diagnostic capability.
During a CT exam, you will lie on the CT table, called the gantry, which slowly moves you through the opening of the CT Scanner while you are being scanned. You will be instructed to hold your breath at periodic intervals during the scanning and to lie still and refrain from moving during the exam. The exam is painless, and is over quickly.
