Credentialing at the Saint Francis Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) means less paperwork for PHO physicians and their office staff and one point of contact for PHO payors. PHO staff responds to all requests from PHO payors for credentialing and recredentialing information. That means physicians receive one request every three years for updated credentialing information rather than individual requests from each payor. The PHO credentials and recredentials its network using industry standards. The PHO has been approved by all of its payors to perform this function on their behalf (whether through a delegated or interface relationship). PHO credentialing and recredentialing follows the standards of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Additionally, the PHO and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center (SFH&MC) Medical Staff Office share a common physician application. Physicians interested in joining both the SFH&MC Medical Staff and PHO begin the credentialing process by contacting the Medical Staff Office at 714.4088 to request an application. Completed applications are returned to the Medical Staff Office, which in turn submits application copies to the PHO for PHO credentialing.
