I attended medical school at Damascus University in Damascus, Syria between the years of 1965 and 1971 when I graduated with an M.D. degree. I traveled to the United States in late 1971 to Cleveland, Ohio where I did a rotation internship between January 1972 through June 1973. I began my residency in General Surgery at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut on July 1, 1973 and completed it on June 30, 1977. I then did a year of fellowship at Mt. Sinai hospital in Hartford, Connecticut in General Surgery from July 1, 1977 to June 30, 1978. I became Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons in 1979 and re-certified in 1999. I opened a solo practice in July of 1978 practicing General Surgery in Hartford, Connecticut. I am affiliated with St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Mt. Sinai Hospital and Hartford Hospital. I joined the Surgical Group in 1996. We are a 9 member General Surgery Group in Hartford, Connectucut and have several satellite offices in the greater Hartford area. Interests relating to my practice are laparoscopic surgery, breast surgery, abdominal surgery, and hernia surgery. I met my wife JoAnn who is from West Hartford at St. Francis Hospital while I was a resident. We got married in 1978 and have 3 daughters. We reside in West Hartford, Connecticut.
