Maria A. Summa, PharmD, BCPS is the Director of Pharmacy and Residency Program Director.  Maria received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut, and her Doctor of Pharmacy from West Virginia University.  She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at New England Medical Center in Boston, MA, and practiced as an ambulatory care clinical faculty member for several years in the Boston area.  Maria began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2001 as an ambulatory care pharmacist where she established the Medication Management Clinic, a referral-based pharmacotherapy clinic situated within an adult medical ambulatory care center.  In 2004, she transitioned into an Assistant Director role within the Pharmacy Department and was responsible for planning, developing, implementing and managing clinical pharmacy services.  Maria has precepted the Ambulatory Care and Drug Information/Drug Policy rotations, and currently precepts the Practice Management rotation.  Her practice and research interests include ethnic considerations for the management of diabetes and the care of medically indigent patients.

Mary Inguanti, R.Ph, MPH, FASCP is the Vice President, Operations and a preceptor for the Practice Management rotation. Mary completed her B.S. in Pharmacy and her Masters in Public Health at the University of Connecticut.  She is a Fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and a Fellow of the Wharton School of Executive Leadership.  Mary began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 1985.  Her practice and research interests include quality and outcomes, medication safety initiatives, and staff development.

Lisa DeGennaro, PharmD, CDE is a preceptor for the Ambulatory Care (Gengras) rotation.  Lisa completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Connecticut in 2001 and completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2002.  Lisa’s main practice setting is the adult internal medicine clinic.

Eric Jackson, PharmD, BCPS is a preceptor for the Family Practice rotation.  Eric completed his B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina in 1971 and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1975.  Eric began practice at Asylum Hill Family Practice Center in 1984 and maintains a practice/research interest in pediatric asthma in inner city children and medical informatics.

Ruth Korch, R.Ph. is a preceptor for the Infectious Disease Clinic rotation.  Ruth received her B.S. in Pharmacy degree from Butler University in 1974 and has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient settings in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.  She began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 1993 and maintains a practice/research interest in the management of HIV, hepatitis C, and infectious diseases. 

Kristine O. Collins, PharmD is a preceptor for the Neonatal Intensive Care and Women’s Health rotations.  She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Purdue University in 2000 and began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center that same year.  Kristine’s main practice settings include the neonatal intensive care and adult intensive care units.  Her research interests include the topic of medications in pregnancy and lactation.

Nicole Costello, PharmD. is a preceptor for the Cardiology Intensive Care rotation.  Nicole completed her B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut in 1995 and is currently working towards her Doctor of Pharmacy degree through the University of Florida.  She began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2001 and her main practice areas include the cardiology intensive care unit and the cardiology step-down unit.

Firoozeh Vahadji, PharmD is a preceptor for the Cardiology Intensive Care rotation.  Firoozeh completed her B.S. in Pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 1987 and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Chicago at Illinois in 2000.  She completed an ASHP Antithrombotic Pharmacotherapy Traineeship at the University of Washington.  Firoozeh began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2001 and practices mainly in cardiology intensive care.  Her research interests include intensive care.

Lisa Monast, R.Ph., PharmD is the preceptor for the Drug Policy/Drug Information and Behavioral Health rotations.  Lisa completed her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1994 and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2002.  She began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2000 and her main practice/research interests include psychiatric medicine.

Asmita Bhuva, R.Ph., is a preceptor for the Neonatal Intensive Care/Women’s Health rotation.  Asmita completed her B.S. in Pharmacy degree from Liverpool School of Pharmacy in the United Kingdom in 1985 and began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 1995.  She practices mainly in the neonatal intensive care and perinatal units and Asmita maintains a research interest in complementary medicine.

Michael Puia, R.Ph. is a preceptor for the Anticoagulation rotation.  Michael completed his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1992.  He completed a certificate program in Anticoagulation Management through the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, and began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 1992.  Michael maintains a practice in Hematology/Oncology and in the Anticoagulation Service, and his research interest includes pain management.

Nancy O’Leary, R.Ph. is a preceptor for Pharmacy Service rotation and she completed her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1988.  Nancy began practicing at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 1990 and maintains a practice in Adult Intensive Care and Adult Internal Medicine.
Jamey Dodge, R.Ph. is the preceptor for Medical/Surgical Intensive Care.  Jamey received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1999 and practiced in an ambulatory setting for two years before joining the Department of Pharmacy in February of 2001.  Jamey helped to institute the decentralization of ICU pharmacy services during the evening hours.  In 2005, Jamey became our lead ICU pharmacist and maintains a contemporary practice site within the critical care unit.

Paul Davern, R.Ph., MBA is the preceptor for the Medication Safety rotation.  Paul received his B.S. Pharmacy and MBA from the University of Connecticut.  He has practiced as a patient unit pharmacist, Assistant Director of Pharmacy, Director of Pharmacy, Assistant Hospital Director, Associate VP/Administrator for the UCONN Medical Group, and was most recently and Associate Hospital Director at John Dempsey Hospital where he was responsible for the development of the Medication Safety Program.  Paul joined the Department of Pharmacy at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center as a per diem Medication Safety Officer in 2003.  He has been the organization’s full-time Medication Safety Officer since August of 2004. 

Eunyoung Silvie Suh, PharmD, BCOP, BCPS is a preceptor for the Oncology rotation.  Silvie graduated from the Albany College of Pharmacy in 2000 and she completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2001.  Silvie joined the staff of the Department of Pharmacy after completing her residency and has maintained a practice in adult internal medicine and hematology/oncology. 

Gregory Kratz, PharmD, GCP is a preceptor for the Outpatient Oncology rotation.  Greg graduated from the University of Connecticut and practiced for several years as a consultant pharmacist before joining the Saint Francis team in 2005.  He established a practice in the Outpatient Cancer Center and is also the Pharmacist Team Leader for Sterile Products. 

Devra Dang, PharmD is the preceptor for the Ambulatory Care (Burgdorf/Fleet Health Center) rotation.  Devra completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Maryland in 2000.  She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency with the University of Virginia Health System in 2001 and a Primary Care Specialty Residency with the National Institutes of Health in 2002.  She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, and has been with Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center since July of 2002.
