Application Procedures

The Department of Pharmacy participates in the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Resident Matching Program and requires each applicant to follow the requirements of the Matching Program.
Applicant Requirements:
- Be a US citizen or hold a visa that will allow candidate to complete the residency year
- Be a graduate of an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy by the start of the residency year
- Be licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Connecticut at the start of the residency year
- Have entry level knowledge and skills equivalent to that which would be expected of a recent doctor of pharmacy or other appropriate advanced degree candidate.
- Completed Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center application
- Curriculum vitae
- Pharmacy school transcripts
- Letter of intent
- Three letters of recommendation (at least two should be from clinical preceptors)
Application materials are due on Jan. 2. Qualified applicants will be notified to arrange for the required on-site interview. Matched residency candidates will be required to arrange for Connecticut pharmacist licensure PRIOR to start of their residency year. Please refer to the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection web site for information on licensure transfer and deadlines for application materials. Please note that May 1 is the deadline for receipt of application materials for residency candidates that are expected to sit for the Connecticut Calculations Exam held in June. The Board of Pharmacy also requires an on-site interview.
