Still, many patients will die from their malignant disease. In those patients, there comes the time when the focus of the therapy is no longer cure but to provide comfort and palliation. Palliative care teams have been assembled; one for the outpatients and one for inpatients, with the mandate to coordinate all services and treatment, to optimize the comfort of the patient and especially to render the patient free of pain. These efforts culminate in the Hospice Program.
