Hospice care provides a total support system with the emphasis on pain and symptom management, the right to die with dignity and the ease of the emotional and spiritual needs of both the patients and their family members. Associated with the Hospice Program is the Pain Management Program. A specialized Pain Management Center has been established to minimize cancer treatment side effects and in particular to control pain. This Pain Management Center is staffed by experienced anesthesiologists specially trained in pain control. Here the most sophisticated pharmacologic and biomedical techniques are available. In addition to this team, the Pain Control Service of The Rehabilitation Hospital of Connecticut is available to consult with our patients. This service complements the Pain Management Center, providing not only traditional but also alternative pain relief measures offered by highly specialized physical medicine physicians.
