Saint Francis Care, Hartford Connecticut - ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY, ACCOMPLISHED PHYSICIANS, AMAZING RESULTS

Celebration of Life Day
Back

Cancer is no longer a fate that befalls the patient and invariably results in death. We now see cancer as a chronic illness that can always be treated, and frequently be cured. We used to dedicate one day a year to the patients who had survived cancer, became shining, yet rare examples of cure, and thus beacons of hope for any patient. With the change of the perception of the disease “cancer,” we have also changed the name of that day, and now call it Celebration of Life Day. This annual event honors the rapidly growing number of men and women that have triumphed over cancer as patients of the Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center. Butterflies are released in the Victory Garden of the Cancer Center as a symbol of metamorphosis and freedom.
