PSR-24 tranistioning to PM + S-36
The Early Years
The Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center Podiatric Surgical Residency Program began in 1990 at Mount Sinai Hospital under the direction of Dr. Elliot Pollack. On October 1, 1995, Mount Sinai Hospital officially merged with Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, a Level I trauma center, which increased the total number of beds to over 600 with specialties and residency programs in almost every specialized area.
The Saint Francis Podiatric Surgical Residency is currently a CPME approved PSR-24, with three first-year residents and three second-year residents. On site evaluation Spring 2005, will convert to PM+S-36 by July 2005. The residents work with approximately 30 active attending podiatric surgeons on staff, and most are ABPS diplomates.
