SAINT FRANCIS NAMES DIRECTOR OF PATH OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Erum Shahab, M.D., To Fill Position

(HARTFORD, Conn.) Erum Shahab, M.D., of Ellington, has joined the Department of Behavioral Health at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center as the Medical Director of PATH Outpatient Services.

Dr. Shahab received her medical degree from the Universidad Tecnologica de Santiago, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She completed her psychiatry residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Bronx, N.Y., where she also served as the chief resident in her fourth year. She received the distinguished award of Resident Teacher of the Year� from Columbia-Cornell during her third year of residency. Following her graduation from Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, she joined Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y., where she completed a fellowship in forensic psychiatry.

Prior to joining Saint Francis, Dr. Shahab was on the staff of Saint Josephs Medical Center, Yonkers, N.Y., and at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, Bronx, N.Y. She currently also serves as a captain in the United State Air Force Medical Corps and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Psychiatry and Law, and the American Academy of Women Psychiatrists. Although Dr. Shahabs specialty is to work with the forensic population, she treats children, adolescents and adults as well as the geriatric population. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Urdu and Hindi.

Founded in 1897, Saint Francis is a major teaching hospital licensed for 617 acute inpatient beds and 65 bassinets and is the largest Catholic hospital in New England.
