(HARTFORD, Conn.) The new Emergency Department at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center will be the beneficiary of this years MIRACLES gala. The black-tie event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Connecticut Convention Center.
This new Emergency Department will mark another step forward in providing essential treatment on an urgent basis by doubling the treatment space available in Saint Francis current Emergency Department,� said Irene Triompo, general co-chair of the gala.
First held in 1990 to celebrate the just-completed affiliation of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital, the MIRACLES galas have raised nearly $9 million for Hospital and community projects.
Over the last 18 years, MIRACLES has grown to become the most elegant event on Hartfords fall social scene. Were expecting 1,300 guests to fill the Convention Center for this stellar celebration,� said Mary Smullen, general co-chair.
MIRACLES begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by dinner and dancing to the music of the Landerman Society Orchestra and Yellow Brick Road. The evening also will include a silent auction of collectible wines and door prize giveaways of trips to Ireland and the Caribbean.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Centers new Emergency Department will be located in the Hospitals planned John T. OConnell Tower. Groundbreaking for the Tower, to be located on the Ashley Street side of Saint Francis main campus, is expected this fall. In addition to a new 50,000 square-foot Emergency Department, the building will also contain 19 replacement operating rooms and 108 private replacement patient rooms.
