Saint Francis Care, Hartford Connecticut - ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY, ACCOMPLISHED PHYSICIANS, AMAZING RESULTS

Security & Safety
Back

The Security Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Security officers are assigned to stationary and roving posts throughout both campuses, including the parking lots and the parking garage.

To augment our security personnel, we have numerous electronic systems in place. For example, an alarm will signal security when someone is going through an entrance or exit. Additionally, a full fire alarm system throughout both campuses alerts security control to smoke or fire. Numerous cameras are focused on areas requiring surveillance, such as parking lots and entrances. Intercoms and panic buttons are in place between security control and key points of the hospital and parking lots.

Emergency phones are available in the garage at Saint Francis, near the entrances to the stairwells. An access control system has been installed on both campuses at the gates to the employee parking lots, employee entrances and areas in the hospitals that are reserved for authorized personnel only. All hospital employees are issued identification badges which they are required to wear during their working day. Passes are issued to visitors to establish their identity and their right to be in certain locations within the hospital.

Security supervisors and security officers assigned to the interior of the hospital are outfitted in blazers and slacks. Security officers assigned to exterior posts wear military-style uniforms. All security personnel are trained to be helpful and tactful, yet firm in implementing the established security procedures.

Escorts for visitors to their vehicles will be provided by security upon request. To request an escort or other routine security assistance, call Ext. 44492 on the Saint Francis Campus and Ext. 42688 on the Mount Sinai campus.

Public access to the Saint Francis Campus is through the Patient Care Tower Lobby and the first and second floor garage entrances to the Patient Care Tower. After 9 p.m., public access is through the Emergency/Trauma Department entrance and the second floor garage entrance to the Patient Care Tower.

Public access to the Mount Sinai Campus is through the Blue Hills Avenue main lobby. After 9 p.m., public access is through the Emergency Department entrance.
