For three years, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, more specifically our Program for Integrative Medicine and Gynecology Oncology, was blessed with the music of Wendy Pender-Cudlip and her spirit for life. In recognition of Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, Wendy introduced and inspired a chamber music concert entitled "Celebrating Hope and Healing." In 2004, she had been diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer and underwent surgery, followed by extensive and ongoing chemotherapy and radiation.
A flutist by trade, Wendy decided to give back and became an advocate for advancing the awareness of gynecologic cancers. These concerts were one way for her to bring joy and inspiration to those around her. Wendy performed, along with many other esteemed musicians and friends, in two beautiful and heartfelt concerts.
On October 4th, Wendy lost her battle with ovarian cancer. Saint Francis and its community will miss our dear friend and our thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family. We thank them for sharing Wendy and her music with us.
