Class and Clinical Internship
This 52-week program comprises an initial 5 weeks of dedicated classroom instruction, concentration on anatomy, basic equipment operation and fundamental skill development in cardiac ultrasound. The remaining 47 weeks comprises 4 days of clinical hands on instructions in our clinical hospital training sites and 1 day of classroom instruction. Our students rotate their clinical training in several local hospitals. These rotations provide our students with a broad range of clinical experiences.
Students will have Clinical Observation in areas of:
- Cardiac Catheterization
- Graded Exercise Testing
- Cardiac Rehabilitation
- Open Heart Surgery
- EKG’s
Educational concentrations in areas of:
- Cardiac Anatomy & Physiology
- Adult Echocardiography
- Ultrasound Physics
- Instrumentation
Clinical Internship and Rotations
There are several clinical rotations throughout 6 different hospitals within a 20-mile radius of the school located in Hartford, Connecticut. These clinical settings provide both a small community and major teaching hospital experience that will help develop the essential skills necessary to become a registered technologist and working professional. We also have long distance clinical sites at Danbury and Baystate Medical Center. Below is a complete list of internship and rotation sites:
